Two Florida Men Arrested on Drug Charges

On February 19, 2013 at approximately 5:36pm, Officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a blue in color, Toyota truck, for the traffic infractions of expired tag and inoperable brake lights. Upon conducting the stop in the McDonald’s parking lot, off of Lafayette Street, contact was made with the driver, John Murphy. During the stop, consent to search the vehicle was obtained from Murphy. Prior to the search of the vehicle, a search of Murphy’s person was conducted. Officers located a container containing a small amount of Methamphetamine in Murphy’s pants pocket. Murphy was then placed under arrest.
During the search of the vehicle, Officers located several items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. The items were household lye, butane lighter fuel, Aleve-D Sinus and Cold (with Pseudoephedrine) and lithium batteries. Due to the finding of these items, the passenger, Richard Flanders, along with Murphy was charged with Possession of Listed Chemicals.
Both subjects were transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance on the mentioned charges.

Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and Possession of Listed Chemicals
Arrestee: Richard Leon Flanders W/M DOB: 48 Years of Age 22937 NW Tatum Road Altha, FL 32421
Charges: Possession of Listed Chemicals
