Two Marianna Men Charged with Burglary, Kidnapping, and Assault

On October 1st, 2012 at approximately 6:39 p.m., officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the Best Value Motel located at 4168 Lafayette St. in reference an Armed Robbery. Contact was made with the victim who stated that his hands and feet were bond and he was left in the bathtub after being robbed at knife point. The victim advised that the two Hispanic suspects robbed him of a large amount of US currency. Officers reviewed the Motels surveillance cameras which led them to a source that was able to provide them with information that the suspects were possibly at the Super 8 Motel located on Hwy 71 South. Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were able to confirm that the possible suspects were at the Super 8 Motel and were able to confirm that the suspects were in possession of a large amount of cash. Officers with the Marianna Police Department then made contact with the above named suspects at the Super 8 Motel where a large amount of US Currency was able to be recovered as well as one of the knives used in the robbery. Ilda Avila and Rodolfo Gonzalez were both placed under arrest and are charged with the above listed charges. Avila and Gonzalez were later taken to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance
