Two of Washington County’s Most Wanted Apprehended

Bonifay Police arrested two fugitives following the September 15th release of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office “Ten Most Wanted” individuals. On the evening of September 15th, Renford Denson Sr. (B/M 60 YOA) was arrested at a residence on Indiana Avenue. Denson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Holmes County Jail on outstanding warrants from Holmes and Washington County.
A traffic stop in the early morning hours of September 20th, led to the arrest and additional charges for Billy Mike Nettles (B/M 35 YOA) of Caryville. Nettles, was the passenger in a vehicle stopped for no taillights. Nettles initially provided a false name to the investigating officer. A consensual search of the vehicle led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia where Nettles had been sitting. When the Officer asked a Deputy Sheriff, who had arrived as back-up, to place Nettles into custody, Nettles attempted to flee on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Nettles was apprehended.
Due to his actions, Nettles is facing additional charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, providing false information to law enforcement, resisting arrest with violence and escape. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Samuel Phillips (W/M 43 YOA) of Bonifay was arrested for felony driving while license suspended or revoked (4th offense). Both Phillips and Nettles were booked into the Holmes County Jail.
