Two People Arrested after Traffic Stop in MariannaMatt Boster

On May 31st, 2014 at approximately 1:53 p.m., Officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a green Ford passenger vehicle on Milton Ave.., for a traffic infraction. During the traffic stop officers obtained consent to search the vehicle by the driver of the vehicle Anthony Simmons. Simmons as well as three passengers removed from the vehicle and a search of the vehicle was conducted. During a search of the vehicle Officers recovered a small baggy of marijuana as well as a small baggy of cocaine from the passenger side door of the vehicle. The front seat passenger was identified as Dwight Holland and he was placed under arrest. Officers also recovered a .38 caliber revolver which was hidden in the vehicles engine compartment. The driver Anthony Simmons who was also the registered owner of the vehicle was determined to be a convicted felon and was placed under arrest. Simmons and Holland are charged with the above listed charges and both subjects were transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
