Two Shot, Including Deputy, in Florence Shootout

A shootout in Florence Wednesday night has injured a Lauderdale County deputy and the man he went there to find.Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said deputies were serving commitment papers to a man on Ridge Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. What happened next is still unclear, but Singleton said there was an "exchange of gunfire." Deputy Randall McCrary was hit twice.
"The injuries were serious but don''t appear life-threatening at this time," Singleton said. "He was conscious and talking when they took him." The suspect was also shot. Both were airlifted to Huntsville Hospital.
