Two Slocomb Residents Arrested on Drug Charges in Jackson County Florida

   On February 2, 2015 just after midnight, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission in reference to a night hunting case.


   Upon the arrival in the area of Hwy 2 and Holyneck Rd, the deputy observed the FWC officer on a traffic stop of a red Dodge truck. The FWC officer advised that he had witnessed the occupants of the truck commit a game violation for night hunting. He also advised the deputy that the driver had a suspended license and a warrant out of Walton County.


   The occupants of the vehicle were removed and a search for evidence in the night hunting case was conducted of the truck. While searching the truck for FWC, deputies did locate several items of drug paraphernalia and two plastic baggies that contained suspected methamphetamine.


   The deputies then took over the narcotics portion of the investigation and took the occupants of the vehicle into custody.


   FWC charged both occupants with several game law violations along with the driver being charged for driving with a suspended license.


   The Sheriff’s Office charged the occupants with the below listed charges:


 


   Arrested: Hovie E. Sawyers, 50 years old of Slocomb, Alabama


 


                     Karry N. Crutchfield, 43 years old of Slocomb, Alabama


 


   Charges: Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)


                   Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
