Montgomery – The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Agriculture & Rural Crimes Unit (ARCU) was notified Saturday, Feb. 14, that approximately $71,000 of equipment was stolen from a farm in the Samson area of Geneva County. With assistance from Geneva County Sheriff’s Office and Samson Police Department, agents assigned to ARCU recovered approximately $60,000 of the stolen property. In addition, the investigation led agents to two suspects, Theodore Brodeak, 49, and Steven Overstreet, 36, both of Slocomb. The investigation also led to two additional thefts in Geneva County and one theft in Holmes County, Fla., all of which the same individuals committed. Brodeak and Overstreet were arrested Thursday, Feb. 19, and each was charged with five counts first-degree felony theft of property and transported to the Geneva County Jail.
