DOTHAN: The City of Dothan purchased a $ 12 million dollar radio system. That system requires a maintenance agreement of $ 400,000.00 per year.
Yes, $ 400,000.00 maintenance fee for a new radio system.
We have confirmed the City of Dothan never bid that system out. They bought the system strictly from Motorola.
Alabama law dictates for governments to be fair and bid items out. A $ 12 million dollar system not bid.
UPDATE: Dothan City Manager Mike West says the radio system was available off the state bid list and was purchased from the state bid sheet.
