PORT SAINT LUCIE FL: The life of a bail bondsman. In addition I must brag on my staff.
Months ago we made bonds on Janet Hancock and Travis Lambert. Hancock was a bond for $ 100,000.00 and Lambert was a bond for $ 3,000.00.
Hancock and Lambert went on the run. As A – Advantage Bonding Bail Enforcement Agents worked the leads from the bonds the family claimed they did not know where they were located.
Agents traveled out of county and out of state working leads. The Bail Enforcement Agents worked leads in conjunction with the Houston County Sheriff Department.
Last week Ricky Beck and Brandon Brock went to areas in Florida to include Port Saint Lucie Florida. The agents worked some leads in the area of Port Saint Lucie and other Florida areas.
On Friday the puzzle came together that intelligence information dug from multiple sources indicated the two were held up somewhere in the area of Point Saint Lucie Florida. The agents had gathered several pieces of information and researched several pieces of information together to indicate a 5 mile area they were probably staying.
To locate the two people on the run would now require some good old fashion on the ground investigative work.
Early Sunday morning Ricky Beck and Brandon Brock of A – Advantage Bonding Bail Enforcement left Dothan and traveled to Port Saint Lucie. At 5:45 AM they sent me some pictures and information they found.
Late Sunday evening Tim Dickerson and Larry Morris of A – Advantage Bonding Bail Enforcement left Dothan and traveled to Port Saint Lucie. This morning, together the agents worked leads and good old fashioned on the ground investigative work.
All information lead them to 135 NE Lobster Drive Port Saint Lucie Florida. The agents secretly checked the residence and found a black truck in the front driveway. In the backyard the agents found a white truck. Both vehicles believed to belong to Lambert.
The agents called me and I contact the Saint Lucie County Sheriff Department. The call was a request they send deputies to assist in a felony on the run apprehension. The four agents of A – Advantage Bonding were on the scene and had the house surrounded. They could hear the persons inside talking and heard the male ( Lambert ) say something to Janet.
As the Sheriff Deputies gathered more information and confirmed the persons were in the National Crime Information System ( NCIC ) they took over the apprehension. The Deputies from Port Saint Lucie talked with Sheriff Deputies in Houston County.
The knocks on the door to the residence and the orders to leave the residence went unanswered.
The A – Advantage Bonding Agents on the scene in Port Saint Lucie through an iphone app called TANGO were able to provide back to me in Dothan live scene video. I was able to see the actions and what was developing real time. I was able to two way talk to the agents on the scene while watching the live video.
After Lambert came out of the residence and returned back inside, and failure to obey commands to exit, Port Saint Lucie Sheriff Department deployed the K-9 inside the residence. Reports are after encouragement from the K-9’s teeth to Lambert’s arm, both Lambert and Hancock decided it was time to cooperate with the law enforcement commands.
Remember – you can always fight the crime – but – you can never fight the ride!
Both Hancock and Lambert are now in the custody of Port Saint Lucie Sheriff Department awaiting extradition back to Houston County.
Sovereign Citizens
Hancock and Lambert are a part of a group of people known as the “Sovereign Citizens”. This group does not believe that law enforcement and the courts have jurisdiction over them. They believe the court is a “for profit corporation” ( that is probably true! ) and they can not be touched.
They also have beliefs that I can not explain totally, but that banks can not foreclose and own property.
Hancock was convicted of burglary in moving into a home that was foreclosed on. She was sentenced to 3 years to serve and appealed her conviction. She did not fulfill the obligations of the appeal and it was dismissed.
Their self proclaimed Federal Judge ( not a real Federal Judge ) was calling the Judge on Hancock’s case ordering that he had removed jurisdiction of the case from the local Circuit Judge.
Custody
A bail bondsman has the job of getting people from jail and making sure they appear for court. When they fail to appear, the bondsman, a person having a financial interest in the person of which bail was made, has the authority and duty to seek and apprehend those which fail to appear in court.
In a court case, Taylor v. Taintor in the U.S. Supreme Court, it reads as follows:
Sureties ( bonding company ) may personally, or through an agent, arrest the offender to surrender him, and they may pursue him, and they pursue him into another state, arrest him on Sunday, break and enter his house for that purpose and the seizure is not made by virtue of new process. Principal is regarded delivered to the custody of the sureties who may seize him and deliver him up, and if that cannot be done at once, they may arrest him until it can be done.
The A – Advantage Bonding Bail Enforcement Agents had the authority to apprehend and enter the Florida residence and take the two persons into custody. Because of intelligence information on these two persons, it was safer once located to contact the local law enforcement to assist and take custody of the two.
They are in the custody of Port Saint Lucie. They will be transported back to Houston County. After being booked into the Houston County Jail Hancock will be sent to the Alabama Department of Corrections for her sentence. She also faces other criminal charges for Bail Jumping.
Lambert will face criminal charges for Practicing Law Without A License. He was trying to represent Hancock in her case.
Thanks
Thanks to the hard work of the four A – Advantage Bonding Bail Enforcement Agents, and the local and Florida law enforcement that aided in this apprehension.
It was also fun to watch the live video and audio feeds through the iphone of the activities on the scene, live.
