Update On Henry County Death Being Investigated

HENRY COUNTY: A little before 6 AM Headland Police received a phone call from Mike Johnson that he had been shot. When emergency units arrived Mr. Johnson was dead.
Headland Police sealed the scene. Headland Police Chief Mark Jones sealed the scene. Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox and his deputies responded to the scene. members of the Henry County - Abbeville Task Force, Agents from Alabama Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene. Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes, at the request of Sheriff Maddox, responded the Regional Crimes Scene Unit, two investigators and Houston County Sheriff Chief Deputy Donald Valenza. Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson responded because the scene was near Dale County line. Henry County Coroner Derek Wright responded.
The law enforcement officers worked together, patiently working the scene and every detail. In a combined effort, the officers organzied, delegated tasks, and worked the crime scene. They have taken their time to make sure every detail possible was documented for leads and evidence.
The officers are working information to come to a final conclusion in this case of what all happened. The officers are working to make sure all leads, all persons are interviewed for a successful outcome to this investigation.
A lot of rumors are flying around. While the officers are questioning multiple persons, there are no suspects in custody as about an hour ago. ( 7:23 PM ). The officers are talking to multiple persons about information, about things seen, and following leads.
This murder is the second murder in Henry County in 8 years. Headland Police Chief Mark Jones and Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox urges anyone that was in the area of Highway 134 and County Road 83 between 5 AM and 6 AM to call Headland Police 334-693-2222 or 334-585-3131.
