Update on Last Nights Shooting on South Appletree

On November 13, 2014 at approximately 7 pm, the Dothan Police Department responded to the 300 block of South Appletree Street in reference to a firearm assault. Upon arrival, officers found two individuals had been shot in the leg. Through preliminary investigation, officer were advised the victims were approached by two unknown individuals. It is unknown what was said, but both groups drew guns and opened fire on one another. The second group of men fled the scene prior to the officers arrival and the two victims were rushed to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center for their injuries. The victims injuries were not life threatening. They were treated and later released.
A third individual, believed to be one of the other two men involved in the incident, arrived at the Medical Center a short while later with a gun-shot wound to his lower body. The extent of his injury is unknown at this time.
The incident is still under investigation. There are no other details to why the shooting occurred and we ask that if anyone has any information regarding this incident to call 334-615-3000.
