Update Teen Kidnapping

The Dothan Police Department responded to a report of a kidnapping at 1108 Ross Clark Circle at 1:05 p.m. Upon arrival, police spoke with an employee of Department of Human Resources who reported the incident. The DHR worker stated she transported 15 year old AILENE LANDER to the medical center for an appointment. While at the office, the worker and Lander were approached by the victim’s step-father, CHARLES PARTIN. Partin took her to a van and exited the parking lot.  A van was stopped by Dothan Police leaving city limits however it has been determined it is NOT the suspect.

 

Many details are being gathered at this time, early leads are being followed and further inquiries regarding the juveniles’ care being given by DHR are part of the ongoing investigation. At this time it is too early in the investigation to reveal any other details which investigators are working to gather at this time.

 

Viewers/Listeners are asked to report anything relating to this case to authorities immediately. The descriptions are as follows;

 

VICTIM: Ailene Lander, white female fifteen years of age, wearing a white shirt and white/pink shorts.

 

SUSPECT: Charles Partin AKA “DEAN”, white male thirty-six years of age, wearing a baseball cap, dark colored shirt and dark jeans.

 

VEHICLE: Two-Tone light blue over dark blue 1994 Mercury Villager older model Van.

W/F DOB: 05/20/1997

HEIGHT: 5’05” WEIGHT: 140

On 09/17/12 Ailene Lander was kidnapped from Southeast Alabama Medical Center by her Step-father, Charles ‘Dean’ Partin. This occurred at approximately 1:00 pm. They were last scene leaving in a blue 1994 Mercury Villager minivan with Alabama tag 34B26K3. Lander was last seen wearing a see through white shirt, with pink gym shorts. Partin was last scene wearing a dark shirt and dark blue jeans. Lander’s mother, Julie Bethke may also be accompanying them. Dispatch has located two different tags for the exact vehicle regarding the kidnapping case, therefore we are unsure which is actually on the van and viewers/listeners should be given both. Thanks everyone will keep you updated. RD

Regarding the ongoing investigation in the kidnapping case, updates are as follows;

 

Numerous FBI agents have arrived or are on the way to Dothan to work on this case.

 

          An FBI command post will be arriving shortly

 

New information developed in this case has given authorities reason to believe the suspect and victim are now also accompanied by the victims’ mother and five siblings. *The family photograph pictured shows these parties. We would like this released to the public immediately as we believe a group consisting of 2 adults and six juveniles is likely to draw attention.

 

I WILL BE GIVING THIS IN THE FORM OF A SOUNDBITE AS WELL FOR ANYONE INTERESTED MEET AT MY OFFICE AT 1:45 P.M.
