ENTERPRISE: Today Marty did an article that hyper linked to some little print newspaper in Enterprise. The article was set where you clicked a link to her newspaper.
Well a female named Carolyn Quattlebaum sent an email which is as follows:
From: publisher@southeastsun.com
Name: Caroline Quattlebaum
Phone: 334-393-2969
Mr. Stokes--
You have just committed plagiarism by copying and pasting our story off our website. All of our material is copyrighted and I respectfully request you take this story down immediately.
END
I responded to Ms.Quattlebaum and said the article was a hyper link which carried people to her web site for the full article. This link provided hits to her web site.
Mrs. Quattlebaum informed me that I was not professional and not a journalist and she did not want articles hyper linked to her newspaper. I laughed because the Montgomery Advertiser has thanked me before for the spikes in thier hits based on hyper links to their articles. Also WSFA TV, which is located where the Alabama State Capital is, uses my articles and information and video. So I can not be that bad! Ahh, I do not think they use yours!! LOL
I assured Mrs. Quattlebaum that it would not happen again. Because really if she and her paper are examples of journalist I have no desire to be a journalist. I was assisting in getting a article out and getting hits to her newspaper or sales to her newspaper.
As to being a professional journalist, I have never claimed to be. However, I have started a web site from scratch that gets far more hits than what she is doing.
Nice to meet you Mrs. Carolyn Quattlebaum. However, my first impression is not real good of you...
Sorry If I did it wrong but I am not a professional journalist and esteemed as you.
Have a good day.

It's sad when you think you in any way measure up to the caliber of the most award winning paper in South Alabama out because you got caught stealing stories you're too incompetent to get the story yourself. In fact you're are not even a real journalist. You actually just a fraud internet blogger that has a news following because people know you can't operate a spell checker and they only want to see how badly you've butchered your next story. You Ricky Stokes and this POS website are a JOKE and you're too stupid to know better.

Thanks for reading the web site to know what was said!

She does not represent everyone in Enterprise, Alabama. I as well as many people I know have you in our favorites or bookmarked in our computers. So i will take your site anyday....lets face it when it rains I can still get your news, unlike the Enterprise newspaper that is very cheaply wrapped and is water logged by the time you get it off your lawn...

Dear Mr. Stokes,
I would like to thank you and your hard working staff for all you do to keep me informed of local news and events. I check your site often...daily. My family and I travel a lot, and your site is the one I use to keep me up to date when I'm out of state....and at home. Just keep in mind there are tons of devoted folks that appreciate you and what you do!! Thanks again!

While I rarely agree with Mr. Stokes, I most definitely see his point in this instance. Does Ms. Quattlebaum not realize that an article posted by Rickey Stokes News and linked to her website creates more traffic for The Southeast Sun?
My husband and I were just discussing how nice it is for Rickey Stokes News to try and cover our surrounding area. I agree that the grammar, spelling and punctuation aren't always perfect on every story but hey, life's too short to sweat the small stuff.
Anyway, I say hang tough, Rickey & Company. Best wishes for your continued success!
