UPDATED @ 8:35 AM Saturday
About 5 minutes prior to the pedestrian struck by motor vehicle Dothan Police received a call on Flynn Road of a missing autistic juvenile. While responding to the missing juvenile Dothan 911 received the call of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.
Dothan Police quickly determined the missing autistic juvenile was the pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.
Dothan Police Lt. Jeremy Collins is the patrol shift commander. He called Dothan Police a Juvenile Investigators to respond.
The 11 year old, identified as Tyler Brown, lived with relatives. The investigation revealed that people tried to stop Brown before crossing the road but he ran into traffic and was struck by a Dodge truck.
The child was a load and run by emergency officials. A load and run means....get to the hospital quick.
Houston County Coroner Ben Ernest pronounced Brown dead in the emergency room at Flowers Hospital.
The driver of the vehicle is cooperative with police. Investigators have taken, with driver consent, the chip from the truck which gives details from the vehicle. In the new vehicles today the chip us like the aircraft black box. It tells all vehicle data to include speed.
Brown was considered severally autistic.
Prayers are with the family and the driver.
No charges are expected.
