DALE COUNTY: At around 3:40 pm a call came into the Dale County 911 center about a possible drowning of a 5 year old girl at the river in Clayhatchee. Law enforcement responded along with EMS.
Units from Wicksburg Fire - Rescue, Regional Land and Water Rescue and Houston County Rescue have been dispatched to the scene. Units are searching both the land and water for the 5 year old girl.
Our hearts go out to the family and the first responders doing the search.

Search is underway by air with Dale - Houston County air unit. Divers are also in the water searching for child.

The search for the little girl continues, divers are having to dive blind and search by feel only due to the muddy water and currents and now darkness.

Just spoke to Dale County Sheriff Chief Deputy Mason Bynum. The search for the child is still on going. Chief Deputy Bynum said they will be there until the divers are successful or call the operation for the night.
Prayers to the victim's family and emergency service crews.
Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms and members of Geneva County Sheriff Department were also on the scene with air boat and rescue staff assisting.

Chief Deputy Mason Bynum said Clayhatchee search operation has been suspended for the night. The operation will continue in the morning.
