DOTHAN: Dothan Fire and Dothan Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in the 2300 block of the Circle. Reports are possible entrapment. 

The area where the crash occurred is closed until it can be cleaned up. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Dothan Police.

This accident involved two passenger cars. A child, age 3 to 4 was trapped in the right rear floorboard. Dothan Police and Dothan Fire scrambled to the child which had to be extricated. 

The parent, not the child, made a conscious decision NOT TO HAVE the child restrained or in a car seat. There was a car seat in the vehicle or a child smaller than this child.

Dothan Fire called a trauma alert on the child. Dothan Police escorted a Pilcher Ambulance to SAMC.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

HATS OFF - SALUTE to Dothan Police, Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance for the quick response and work. The right rear door you will see a small opening at the botttom of the door, that is literally where emergency personnel had to pry open in order to extricate the child.

I am posting one cropped picture where child had to be extricated from And one where child was stuck at.  I am holding other pictures until family notified. 

Dothan Police Captain Todd David was one of the first group of officers on the scene. Dothan Fire on scene commander was Batallion Chief Pete Webb.

WARNING

ALWAYS HAVE CHILDREN IN CAR SEAT. IF OLDER FOR CAR SEAT ALWAYS MAKE SURE IN SEAT BELT.

IF IN DOUBT ABOUT THE CAR SEAT STOP BY A FIRE STATION AND LET THE FIREMAN CHECK THE CAR SEAT.

ources have informed the child is being air lifted to Birmingham. UNCONFIRMED sources inform the child has a broken arm,broken leg, collapsed lung, cuts to the top of his head and his liver is cut.

Please say prayers for this child.
