UPDATED @ 1:27 PM Sheriff Department Recovers Stolen Vehicle

COWARTS: Houston County Sheriff Lt. Ladon Joyner just recovered a stolen vehicle. While on routine patrol Lt. Joyner spotted a red Volkswagon with the window busted out. Joyner spotted the vehicle off Glenn Lawrence Road just west of Ommusse Road.
As Lt. Joyner called out Sheriff Communications Officer Pam Lowe immediately advised him the vehicle is a stolen vehicle.
Lt. Joyner has called for a Criminal Division Investigator to respond to the scene.

Houston County Sheriff Investigator Brandon Simmons is on the scene of the stolen vehicle.

Lt. Joyner was stopped by a vehicle and told there was a vehicle in the woods. The person reporting had seen it earlier when he went to church and saw it there after church. You could just get a glimpse of the vehicle in a field road off Glenn Lawrence Road. Lt. Joyner then went in and found the vehicle.
When Lt. Joyner radioed communications, Communications Lowe immediately verified it stolen. Lowe's fellow communications officer had entered the stolen vehicle into the National Crime Information Center dadabase and knew right when Joyner described it, the vehicle was stolen.
The vehicle was reported stolen on December 30th. Deputy Hunter made the intial report on the vehicle being stolen in Wicksburg.
