DOTHAN:   Received word earlier that my mother Sara Stokes McCord fell and had a bad bruise on her head and was at the Emergency Department of Flowers Hospital.

Momets ago my daughter Emily called  me to get to Dothan now. I spoke with my sister, Sandra Walden.

Sandra tells me there is blood on the brain and she has been told that mother might not survive the next 24 hours.

John Curtis and I are just putside Chattanooga Tennessee. We are leaving and traveling to Dothan.

Please keep mother in your prayers.

Mother is resting comfortably. They are giving her pain medication to keep her comfortable.

Mothe has suffered from Alzheimer's for the last couple of years. She moved to Dogwood Court in Abbeville for several months until there was a place in Headland available, Azalea Court. Mother lived there for a long period of time until the Alzheimer's robbed her of more and she could no longer remember her name and problems keeping her in her room.

Several weeks ago mother was moved to Dothan to a nursing home. On Sunday evening they found her in her room where she fell. LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR, the nursing home has done an outstanding job. With her walker, mother attempted to be independent and fell. The nursing home staff found her and called the ambulance.

We are realistic. We do not want to lose mother, but Alzheimer's has taken her quality of life. We have ZERO doubt, no doubt, where mother will spend eternity.

Today, mother and our dad, Curtis Stokes, would have been married 69 years. In 1985 Daddy left earth. Later she married Terrell McCord. She and Terrell knew each other from church and the families knowing each other over the years. They were married for 18 years, with Terrell dying three years ago.

Mother has had a good life. She told the the family last evening in the emergency room she was going fishing. That is funny. Mother and daddy met with her walking to the creek with a cane pole going fishing. They fished for years.

Everytime I was out of school, they went to Lake Seminole. When daddy would come back to Dothan for work, mother would take the boat out by herself. After his death, mother would still go to the lake and go out on the boat fishing.

All of the family is at the hospital. We are waiting for GOD'S time. We are at peace.

My brother Terry is here. My sister Sandra is here and will not leave. Sandra is always up to the plate when times like this hit.

AGAIN, please let me be clear. The nursing home did a wonderful job and looked after her in great condition.

And Dogwood and Azalea in Abbeville and Headland are great. Westside Terrace has been great.

The nursing staff is doing a wonderful job at Flowers Hospital. They are keeping her on paid medication about every two hours. Her breathing is getting shallow.
