HOUSTON COUNTY:    Houston County Sheriff has dispatched structure fire, fully involved, old flea market south of Center Stage on Highway 231 South near Madrid.

The first picture is what the first fire engine saw on their arrival. The structure was fully engulfed. It is a metal sided pole frame barn.

Water was an issue in fighting the fire. The nearest fire hydrant was Center Stage or Decatur Road intersection on Highway 231 South.

Southern Junction Volunteer Fire and Madrid Fire were the first fire departments. Matt Boster was command as he was the first fireman on the scene.

Multiple fire departments responded to shuttle water. The fire was a defensive action only.

Southern Junction Fire, Madrid Fire, Hodgesville Fire, Cottonwood Fire, Rehobeth Fire, , Campbellton Fire, Graceville Fire, Jackson County Fire -Rescue, Ashford Fire Command Vehicle, Rehobeth Rescue. Wicksburg Fire tanker was on stand by and EMA responed with a light tower.

Houston County Sheriff Deputies blocked traffic.

Madrid Fire is still on the scene and will remain on scene until the Arson investigation team arrives later this morning. It took fire fighters a little over two hours to bring the fire under control. All four wings of the building were on fire when the first units arrived and the northern building had the roof collapsing at that time as well. No one was injured in the fire.

All the fire departments that responded worked well together to bring the fire under control. The building and all the contents was a total loss due to the amount of fire involved when first units arrived.

Thanks to all the responding units both from Alabama and Florida that responded.
