LEE COUNTY:    Some interesting facts about the judicial system and the upcoming trial of Alabama Speaker of the House Mike Hubbard.

As I was typing the story about the jury being seated, I thought about how much people get paid. The following are interesting facts:

1. Realize, this case is brought by the "State of Alabama" against Michael Hubbard as an individual, but in his role as "Speaker of the House of the Alabama House of Representatives". The place where they make the laws he is not accused of violating.

2. They have chosen 16 men and women to decide if Mike Hubbard, as Speaker of the House, has violated those laws he was a part of making.

3. Each juror will be paid $ 10.00 ( ten dollars and no cents ) for each day they serve as a juror and a mileage rate of 5 ( five ) cents per mile driven to the courthouse each day.

4. The three weeks the jurors are expected to serve, for the total three weeks of sitting in a jury box, they will receive $ 50.00 ( fifty dollars ) per week. For the entire three weeks they will receive a total of $ 150.00 plus mileage.

5. The Judge in the case makes an annual salary of $ 147,128.21. That breaks down to $ 2,829.39 a week. For the three weeks of the trial he will make in pay from the State of Alabama $ 8,488.17.

6. The main prosecutor, Matt Hart, makes an annual salary of $ 154,878.40. That breaks down to $ 2,978.43 a week. For the three weeks of the trial he will make in pay from the State of Alabama $ 8,935.29.

NOTE:  I can not explain this. Judge Walker has served with the State of Alabama than Matt Hart, and is more powerful than Matt Hart, but makes less money than Matt Hart.

7. An additional prosecutor in this case, Michael Duffy, makes an annual salary of $ 102,006.42. That breaks down to $ 1978.43 a week. For the three weeks of the trial he will make in pay from the State of Alabama $ 5,935.29.

8. Alabama Speaker of the House made $ 61,945.30 in is job last year as Speaker of the House. That breaks down to $ 1191.26 per week or $ 3,573.78 for the three weeks.

Just some food for thought. Two of the prosecutors and the Judge, for the three weeks of trial, will knock down $ 20,358.65.

Each single juror, for the three week trial will knock down $ 150.00 plus mileage.

And the decision makers are the final 12 selected.

NOTE:  The prices are not for the total prosecution team. The figures are based on 2015 pay from Alabama Open Checkbook.

In addition to the salary information listed, keep in mind there are a host of others from the Luther Strange Attorney ( BP MONEY TAKER ) Office involved in the trial.

Some have also referred to this trial as Luther elimination of opposition in the Alabama Governor Race.

Anyway, Luther has also spent over $ 1 million dollars in a NO BID contract with a Birmingham Law Firm, Spotswood Law. This law firm wrote all of Luther's Prosecutor Matt Hart's motions.

You see, at $ 154,000 plus, we can not expect Matt Hart to write his own motions.

We also have heard that Luther Strange's Attorney General Offfice hired a jury consultant to help strike the jury.

WHAT WE ARE WAITING ON IS...

Alabama Law Enforcement has a  program called LETS. That is a computer database to be used by law enforcement in gaining information about people.

We have heard some rumbling the Attorney General's Office and some District Attorney Office have used LETS to gain information on jurors.

Well, that is not for "law enforcement" purposes. And if so, then the information they learned should be turned over to the defense team.

On January 30, 2014 Luther Strange Attorney General Office announced felony convictions of former ACJIC Investigator. Big Luther bragged that former ACJIC Investigator Dennis Bodine was convicted of improperly accessing confidential law enforcement information.

We are hearing some rumblings that possibly Luther Strange Attorney General Office and his 1 million dollar no contract law firm and his jury consultants, well where did all their intelligence information on the jurors come from?

If the AG Office used LETS, that could possibly result in felony offenses against them.

No evidence yet on this matter. But from rumblings I hear, this issue could surface.
