DOTHAN:    At 2 PM today Dothan Police Chief Greg Benton made 7 promotions within the Dothan Police Department. The promotions were officers to the rank of Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain.


Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz is in China. A long way for him to travel and attend.


Dothan Commissioner John Ferguson of District 4 attended the ceremony. THANKS to Commissioner Ferguson for taking time to attend and support the officers on the day of their promotion.


SHAME - SHAME - SHAME


Shame to Commissioner Albert Kirkland, Amos Newsome, Kevin Dorsey, Hamp Baxley and Taylor Barbaree. Not one single one of the 5 Dothan Commissioners even bothered to appear and support the officers on the day of promotion.


Yet all 5 can show up and appear to collect their paychecks for two meetings a month.


Sorry to the officers of the Dothan Police Department that the leaders of the City of Dothan has so little respect for you they could not even show up and offer congratulations.


Dothan City Manager Mike West did aooear late. But he did appear.

Dothan Commissioner Hamp Baxley reported to me that he normally attends the ceremonies and had planned to attend. However a client came in before the was to attend and needed his professional services which delayed him in attending the ceremonies.
