HEADLAND:    Everybody and their brother is on Cleveland Street in Headland where a farmer has reported to have found a skull of a human. On the scene is Headland Police Chief Mark Jones and members of the Headland Police Department, Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox, Alabama Bureau of Investigation Agents from Dothan, the Houston County Sheriff Crime Scene Unit, Investigators from the Houston County Sheriff Department, and members of the Henry County - Abbeville Task Force.

BUT NO ONE HAS CALLED HENRY COUNTY CORONER DEREK WRIGHT TO THE SCENE. Now one with common sense would determine, if you have found a human skull, which had to be attached to a human body at one time or another, then one with common sense would determine that skull was once attached to a human body. But none of the above mentioned had any respect for Henry County Coroner Derek Wright to notify him of the finding.

The law enforcement agencies have to area taped off with crime scene tape. Part of the roadway is closed for the Houston County Crime Scene Unit to block the roadway.

Members of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation are in the crime scene area. The Dothan Police Department Crime Scene Tech John Thomas is on the scene.

Hey, who was the Sheriff of Henry County when former Henry County Sheriff Welcher died while in office? The Coroner...in fact Alabama Governor Guy Hunt appointed Coroner Norman Holman to the office of Sheriff. He served both offices - Coroner and Sheriff, until Lawton Ed Armstrong took office.

It is sad when they have no professionalism and do not notify the Coroner. That is, if it is a human skull.

There are 18 plus law enforcement officers on the scene. No suspects, a skull find. Who is protecting the roads and other citizens while everybody in Henry County is here?

NOTE: I do not know if this scene belongs to Headland Police Department or Henry County Sheriff Department. But either Headland Police Chief Mark Jones or Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox owes Henry County Coroner Derek Wright an apology.

The scene is in the City of Headland, so the responsibility probably rests on Headland Police Chief Mark Jones.

Henry County Coroner Derek Wright is now on the scene. However, he is not a happy person they call everyone to the scene before ever notifying him. I guess if I had not called him he would not have known.

This kind of professionalism is wrong. Just plain wrong. The Headland Police Department notifies everyone, to include the Alabama Bureau of Investigation. Even Houston County had to go get the crime scene unit from storage and get to Headland to nnotify the Coroner, who is only four blocks away.

UPDATED @ 5:13 PM

Headland Police Chief Mark Jones has confirmed the finding of the skull. Chief Jones has also verified the other part of the body has also been located.

When Headland Police got to the scene the began searching the other area and that is when they located the other part of the body.

The investigation is continuing.
