Jackson County Florida Sheriff Department went to stop a crotch rocket motorcycle around Cottondale Florida. The northbound motorcycle reached speeds of 124 MPH plus and did not stop. Jackson County terminated the chase at the Alabama Florida state line. Houston County Sheriff Deputies spotted the motorcycle and gave chase. Alabama State Troopers blocked Highway 231 at Saunders Road forcing the motorcycle to turn right on Saunders Road. On Saunders Road just before East Wayne Road intersection Houston County Sheriff Deputy Killingsworth pitted the motorcycle knocking him off the road. Pilcher’s Ambulance and Hodgesville Volunteer Fire responded. The motorcycle rider did not sustain what appeared to be serious injuries. He is thought to be from Around Atlanta Georgia and had a current driver license. It is not clear why he was running. In Alabama failure to stop is a misdemeanor offense. In Florida it is a felony. Unknown if Florida will charge the suspect.

UPDATED @ 5:29 PM As more details have developed from the motorcycle chase, the motorcycle rider had slowed to about 40 MPH from 124 MPH and went to pull over to the side of the road. The driver was focused on the Sheriff vehicle directly behind and did not notice the second Sheriff vehicle as he went to pull in front of him. The driver went to take off again and he and the Sheriff car was pulling into him and pushed him on off the road. It is thought the driver felt as deputies were to get out of car he would have taken off again. If the driver had continued at the high rate of speed and hit the railroad tracks just down the road at boots and saddles club at the extreme high rate of speed he would gave wrecked and been seriously injured. SO do not be so quick to be critical of the Sheriff Deputies on pit manuever. They would have saved his life and that of others.
