The Midland City Police have been involved in the chase of a vehicle.  We do not know all of the details at this time.  We wil update as the details become available.

The chase has ended on Fortner Street at Halifax which is west of the Fortner St. Brannon Stand Road intersection.  The vehicle has been apprehended.  We do know that the vehicle has a Texas license plate.  Multilple Dothan and Houston County law enforcement personnel have assisted the Midland City Police Department and they are on the scene now.

UPDATE: Traffic is heavily congested at 59 and Fortner.

UPDATED @ 5:53 PM

Midland City Police Chief Keith Walker said there was a theft from the laundramat in Midland City. There was video. The complaintant called Midland City Police the suspect was back at the laundramat. As Midland City Police Officer Martin responded. As Officer Martin arrived the suspect fled on a green Envoy with Texas license plates.

Officer Martin activated his emergency lights and the suspect, not Officer Martin, made the decision not to stop and fled. The suspect led Officer Martin on several roads before entering into Houston County. The suspect ended up in the 6400 block of Fortner Street. The suspect went to turn around and Officer Martin pinned the suspect vehicle against the brick entrance way of a residence.

The suspect was taken into custody by Midland City Police Department.

Houston County Sheriff Deputies assisted in the chase and Dale County Sheriff Department assisted.

Dothan Police were dispatched to assist. However Dothan Police shift supervisor instructed the responding officers to "monitor" the chase but not get involved. With the CALEA certification of Dothan Police it prevents them from actual law enforcement. The main benefit of CALEA is a sticker on the side of the car and bragging rights of politicians about something of very little benefit. ( Rickey Stokes )
