HOUSTON COUNTY:    Last evening Henry County Sheriff Deputies/Abbeville Police Officers was watching a suspect of burglaries. The surveillance was in the southern part of Houston County - the City of Dothan.

The Henry County Sheriff Investigators/Abbeville Police Investigators did not notify Dothan Police or Houston County Sheriff Department of the surveillance on the southside of the City of Dothan. The surveillance was a L ON G   W A Y from Henry County.

The Henry County Sheriff Investigators/Abbeville Police Investigators then went into a high speed chase of the suspect on the southside of Dothan.

1. The Henry County Sheriff Investigators/Abbeville Police Investigators has zero - no - none - radio communications with Houston County Sheriff Department, Dothan Police or Alabama State Troopers.

2. The Henry County Sheriff Investigators/Abbeville Police investigators did not notify Dothan Police of the surveillance or operation.

3.  The Henry County Sheriff investigators/Abbeville Police investigators did not notify the Houston County Sheriff Department of the surveillance or operation.

4.  The Henry County Sheriff Investigators/Abbeville Police investigators did not notify the Alabama State Troopers of the surveillance or operation.

5. When the chase started, it was during the high traffic volume of traffic to the National Peanut Festival. The chase was on Campbellton Hwy, Highway 605 through Rehobeth, Johnny Murphy Road to Highway 109, across Highway 231 South, down Eddins Road, crossing Hodgesville Road, passing Memphis Church Road, passing Sowell Road and crashing.

6. The chase passed Memphis Baptist Church at high rates of speed while church goers were attending visitation at the church. So traffic was entering and exiting the church while the high speed chase was on going.

THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE WHICH HENRY COUNTY SHERIFF INVESTIGATORS/ABBEVILLE POLICE APPARENTLY KNEW...

7. The suspect, who lived and went to school in Houston County, Rehobeth, was reported by Henry County to 911 during the chase, to be armed and has made threats he was not going back to jail alive.

WHICH CAUSED THE RISK OF SERIOUS PHYSICAL INJURY OR DEATH OF SOMEONE

8.  The Henry County Sheriff Deputies/Abbeville Police called 911 and reported the high speed chase after henry County Sheriff Deputies/Abbeville Police initiated the chase.

NOT SURE

I do not know if the Henry County Sheriff Investigators/Abbeville Police Investigators have zero trust for the men and women who work at Houston County Sheriff Department, Dothan Police and Alabama State Troopers, and that is why they did not notify them.

But if trust is the case, SORRY. Houston County Sheriff Department/Dothan Police are different than the small county.

But the proper procedure would have been to notify the agency in which has primary jurisdiction where your case leads you.

The Henry County Sheriff Investigators/Abbeville Police Investigators were renegades and should be arrested for Reckless Endangerment. In that, their reckless actions caused the risk of serious physical injury or death of another.

SOMEONE BETTER GET SOME LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT SKILLS IN HENRY COUNTY...

Email from a reader about last night pursuit..

I understand the importance for law enforcement and emergency personnel to answer a call in process with urgency. But that does not give responding units the privilege of putting other citizens in extreme danger while responding to these calls. I was a firefighter and understand that even though time is of the essence we still had to abide by the rules of the road. Tonight my daughter was traveling west on Eddins Road where a bad accident had occurred close to Memphis church. A police officer responding to this accident call was evidently hell-bent on getting there as quickly as possible even though there were four other police units there at the accident. The responding officer passed a car on a sharp turn at a high rate of speed. The result of his or her actions cause my daughter to have to slam on brakes (she was traveling in the opposite direction) and veer off the side of the road and the responding officer to pull sharply back into his original lane (right after the car he/she was passing) to avoid hitting my daughter head on. Needless to say the results of the response to an accident could have been worse than the original accident itself or at least compounded the severity. Like I said I was a firefighter that drove the truck to emergency situations and I was well aware that violating the rules of the road resulted in my being responsible for the outcome of my actions. As much as I admire and respect those that put their life on the line daily to protect and serve please don't put other lives on the line.

What this reader didn't know at the time was this was no accident they were responding too. Had someone been notified Houston County Deputies could have been positioned to intercept if something went wrong and the pursuit may have not lasted as long.

UPDATED @ 12:23 PM

Sources from within Henry County have stated they did notify Houston County Sheriff Department and Dothan Police Investigators of the surveillance.

Apparently the departments did not: (1) send officers to join the Henry County Sheriff Department, and (2) did not provide the Henry County Sheriff Department with proper radio communications equipment to communicate.

Therefore someone with Dothan Police and/or Houston County Sheriff Department dropped the ball, this creating a situation of serious physical injury or death of another.

Sorry to Henry County if you did notify Dothan Police and/or Houston County Sheriff Department.

And if you did, then the person you told with Dothan Police and/or Houston County Sheriff Department needs to be reprimanded. This could cost innocent lives.

UPDATED @ 6:20 PM

Dothan Police reports not notified.
