OZARK:    We have learned the City of Ozark has terminated the Ozark Fire Chief.

The termination, as we undertsand, occured this afternoon late. At this time we are not sure if the action was one of the Mayor or the Ozark Town Council.

The Ozark Fire Chief, Greg Boutwell, is reported to have been involved in some type of incident in Janckson County Florida over the past couple of weeks. The Chief was apparently at a convience store in Campbellton Florida. There was an altercation with the Chief. The Chief was apparently struckin the head with a beer can.

After the assault the Chief fell behind the suspect vehicle and some persons at the store pulled the Chief from behind the vehicle. Then the suspect fled.

The Chief was transported to a Dothan hospital by Jackson County Fire - Rescue. The Chief is reported to have gotten out of the ambulance while enroute to the hospital not wanting to go the hospital. When the ambulance got to a stop in Dothan the Chief got out of the ambulance.

The suspect left the scene and it is unknown if the suspect was ever identified.

The Chief was not on duty at the time of the incident. All of the circumstances are not known at this time. The City of Ozark has not released a statement.

What provoked the altercation is not known at this time. However Boutwell was ambushed by the altercation.
