HENRY COUNTY:   5:25 PM   Abbeville - Henry County 911 has dispatched a structure fire to 219 McClendon Drive in Abbeville.

The first fire engines on the scene reported light smoke from the roof line. Abbeville reported possible fire in the attic.

Abbeville Fire requested mutual aid assistance from Shorterville Fire.

At 5:27 PM the on scene fire commander instructed Shorterville Fire to stand by at the station for a moment and instructed the additional Abbeville Fire unit to stand by at the fire hydrant.

Fireman are investigating the fire.

Abbeville Fire instructed outside fireman to bring a fire hose to the side of the house.

All fire engines have returned to service.

Update on the structure fire from Eddie Dodd of the Abbeville Herald. The homeowner was watching the 5 PM news when the room began filling up with smoke.

The homeowner called 911 and Abbeville - Henry County 911 rolled Abbeville Police, Abbeville Fire and Rescue and Shorterville Fire.

It was quickly under control. It could have been a bad situation if the homeowner was not home and the prompt action of the Abbeville Emergency Services.

Minimum damage.
