DOTHAN:    Dispatched at 5:59 PM, the first fire engine arrive at 6:04 PM,  DOthan 911 dispatched a structure fire at 507 North Foster Street, the old Saint's Apartments. Reports were heavy smoke was visible.

As fire engines were rolling Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams directed if this was a working fire then it   was a defensive fire only. In other words, DO NOT endanger any fireman.

The first fire engine on the scene reported smoke and flames visible.

At 6:08 PM DOthan Fire Chief Larry Williams was rolling to the scene himself.

DOthan Utilities was called to the scene.

At 6:11 PM Dothan Fire Batallion Chief Greg Hutchiinson reported water on fire. The sttructire is an active working fire with heavy fire.

Chief Hutchinson has called for a Fire Marshall to respond to investigate.

Dothan Utilities arrived at 6:18 PM. GREAT - response time from being off until on the scene. They are often not praised by the Utility people are great!.

Dothan Fire is using the deck guns from the fire engines spraying water on the fire.

A DOthan Police car was parked in the ay of the fire trucks, and it was unoccupied and fireman were having a difficult time in finding the officer to get the car moved.

NOTE TO POLICE - structure fires a re FIREMAN activities and NOT Police activities in fighting the fire. Keep you police cars out of the way. The reason I mention this is because this has been an on going issue and some officers have not gotten the message.

North Oates is blocked because of fire hoses across the road from fire hydrants.

Dothsn Fire reports heavy smoke again flowing from the back of the apartments. Air Operations of water spray on going.

Dothan Fire Marshall Chris Etheridge is on the scene.

Dothan Fireman are reporting progress in fighting the fire on D side of structure.

AGAIN...This is a defensive fire only.

Dothan Fireman reports there is a boarded up window where heavy black smoke is at. The fireman are making progress in busting the boards with heavy water and are penetrating it some seeing a change in the smoke color,

The structure is to dangerous to attempt to get a fireman to the window to bust the boards to allow water. It is also to dangerous to place fireman in the structure to fight the fire. So fighting the fire is a defensive from the outside only.

Dothan Fireman are reporting flames are shooting from the structure again.
