HOUSTON COUNTY:  Election returns from Westgate Park in Houston County Commission District Four race.

There were 237 votes cast. Of those Melinda McClendon took 202 votes and there were 35 write in votes for Richard Talley.

We had been hearing there was a write in push and understood it was for Richard Talley. He lost the last regular election against Mr. Forrester. When this vacancy occured he did not seek election but said if it was appointed by the Governor he would have sought the appointment.

We will update more returns as we get them.

No absentee votes cast.

There are 14,825 registered voters in District 4. Of that 433 people cast votes. 

Melinda McClendon received 379 votes. The write in votes were Richard Talley 51, Durwood Tharpe 1, Nathan Mathis 1.

Tharpes votes was at Vaughn Blumberg Center. Mathis votes was at Wicksburg. Galleys votes were 9 at Bay Springs, 1 at the Library, 35 at Westgate and 6 at Wicksburg.

Congratulations to Melinda McClendon as she is now the elected District 4 Houston County Commissioner.
