UPDATED @ 8:20 AM. 5:34 AM. Pedestrian Struck By Motor Vehicle - Trauma Alert

DOTHAN:   5:34 AM.     Dothan 911 dispatched a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Highway 231 North near Westgate Parkway.

The accident location is on the south bound lane of traffic just south of Westgate intersection.

The person appeared to cross into the path of a south bound vehicle.

Dothan Police Patrol Sgt. Evans called for the CRASH Team ( Specialized Traffic investigation ) to respond.

Dothan Fire Engine 6 ( Napier Field Road ) responded to treat the patient. A trauma alert was called and the patient transported.

The accident occured around 5:30 AM.

NOTE:    The patient was loaded and ambulance leaving as I arrived. There are pictures with items in the road but no pictures contain the patient.

It has been confirmed the pedestrian has passed away. Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd has been called to the hospital.

The victim is identified by police as 52-year old Kevin E. Dasinger. Public records show he lived on Hinton Waters Avenue in Midland City about 6 miles from the crash site.
