UPDATED @ 8:30 AM by Matt Boster

Call was received around 5:15 AM of a burglary in progress.  When first units arrived they were advised that it was a domestic situation. The lady advised she thought she heard a shot fired and their kids were inside. A short time later the kids were released and taken to a safe location. All the surrounding mobile homes and homes were told to evacuate as a safety precaution.

Due to the report of shots being fired the Houston County SRT team was called out and because at that time the kids had not yet came out they could have been dealing with a possible hostage situation.  A ambulance from Pilcher’s was dispatched to stand by just in case someone was injured.

Deputies made contact with the suspect and after about 2 hours the suspect surrendered to deputies without incident. The suspect has been identified as Robert Burnset 37 years old of # 50 Daisy Lane of Taylor Alabama. The suspect was transported to the Houston County Jail and booked on Domestic 3rd Charges.

Sheriff Valenza Praised his deputies with the way they handled the situation and it being resolved without incident.
