HENRY COUNTY:   4:31 PM    Henry County Sheriff Deputies and Haleburg Volunteer Rescue responded to a four wheeler accident.

The accident is reported to have involved a older person. Haleburg Volunteer Rescue requested mutual aid assistance from Dothan Fire which met them on Highway 431.

The patient has been transported, trauma alert, to SAMC. Henry County Sheriff Deputies are investigating the incident.

The accident occurred in the 2000 block of County Road 176 in the Haleburg area.

The accident was originally reported as a trauma alert but it was later changed to a heart attack. The patient was Mr. John David Culver, 81 year old white male.  Mr. Culver passed away.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. Culver.

UPDATED @ 9:01 PM

Henry County Coroner Derek Wright has ruled the death as natural causes, probable heart attack.

The initial reports to 911 was a trauma patient from an overturned four wheeler.

After investigation by Henry County Deputy Sheriff Jay Calhoun and Henry County Coroner Derek Wright, the initial reports were not accurate reports.

It seems that Mr. Culver was picked up by a nearby resident. Mr. Culver was complaining of chest pains. The resident that picked him up, his wife is a nurse. Shortly after meeting Mr. Culver, he collapsed and Haleburg Rescue was called to the scene.

Emergency personnel continued CPR and he was transported to SAMC where he was later pronounced dead.

With the rapid developments from when he collapsed is why the preliminary thoughts were a four wheeler accident.
