DOTHAN: Tonight a packed group of Dothan residents with children in the Dothan City Schools met with Dothan School Supt. Dr. Tim Wilder.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Magnet Schools in Dothan. Wilder has formed a committee to explore the possibility of merging the magnet schools into the other schools.
After many hours of discussion, the issue came down to, the parents do not trust the Dothan School system to have discipline under control.
The strangest thing, Dr.Wilder, praised Honeysuckle Middle School and Girard Middle School are better than portrayed.
When RSN asked Dr. Wilder, how can the residents trust you to keep the schools under control as to discipline when you terminated a principal for to many disciplinary actions. Wilder said that was not the reason for termination. I challenged Dr. Wilder about this issue.
The issue is being explored. The bottom line is, the residents of the City of Dothan, at this time, do not trust the leadership of the school system. Discipline is out of control and no confidence in their ability to get it under control. The termination of Dr. Yance at Girard is a prime example of the lack of confidence and trust.
