COFFEE COUNTY: 8:39 PM Within the last 5 minutes the escaped prisoner from Mobile has been apprehended in Coffee County.

The area of capture is County Road 141 in Coffee County near Dale County.

As we understand, the escapee, Jeffrey Scott, was attempting to break into something in the area of County Road 141. The landowner fired multiple gunshots at Scott. He is reported to have hit the ground.

The landowner then held Scott at gunpoint until law enforcement units arrived.

There are no reported injuries other than Scott possibly having to clean out his drawers!!!!

Scott has been on the run since about July 13 when he escaped from a Work Release Center in Mobile. He was from the Coffee County and Dale County area.

On July 13 Scott was chased by Coffee County Sheriff Deputies and Alabama Department of Law Enforcement Officers - Troopers in Coffee County. It was in the New Hope Area. A vehicle chase took place, Scott wrecked and fled on foot. He was able to elude authorities.

On Wednesday Scott was chased by Ozark Police and Dale County Sheriff Department. Scott was on a four wheeler and hit dirt roads and logging roads before wrecking the four wheeler. He then fled on foot again.

A massive manhunt with Alabama Department of Law Enforcement - Troopers, State Bureau of Investigation, Coffee County Sheriff Department, and Alabama Department of Corrections took place. Track dogs recovered a back pack that Scott was carrying.

Well, Jeffrey Scott forgot something. Some good folks live in the area of Marley Mill Road, Highway 51, and other county roads in Coffee and Dale County. And when alerted, they get prepared. And when the landowner found someone breaking in, well...

Scott was reported in the look outs as being Armed and Dangerous. But so are the alert homeowners.

Multiple law enforcement officers are on the scene at this time.

Updated information. A retired federal corrections officer and his wife went to their cabin. When the door was open Scott slammed the door closed. The retired federal officer had his weapon, open the door. Scott was armed with a knife. The retired officer fired a couple of shots. Scott threw the knife down and got on the ground.

The retired officers wife called 911 officers who responded.

The address was at the Coffee County/Dale County line but in Coffee County.

Both Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton and Dale County a Sheriff Chief Deputy Mason Bynum responded.

There were no injuries.

When the retired corrections officer was told there was a reward he said give it to charity.
