UPDATED at 11:03 AM....Early Morning Accident leaves two dead in Barbour County

BARBOUR COUNTY:  Fire EMS and Law Enforcement are on the scene of a two vehicle accident involving a pickup and a garbage truck. Reports are one person is injured and two people have been confirmed dead.


The wreck occurred around 6:30 am at Hwy 30 and Tyson Road just East of Clayton Alabama. The cause of the wreck is under investigation. This are will be closed for a couple of hours until all is cleaned up.

The two fatalities from this morning’s wreck have been identified as 31 year old David Tyrone Hamilton and 51 year old Edward James Ross both of Barbour County. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by Barbour County Corner Chip Chapman.

DOTHAN POST --  A two-vehicle crash at 6:31 a.m. today, April 18, has claimed two lives and injured two others.  Tyrone David Hamilton, 31, and Edward James Ross, 50, both of Clayton, were killed when the 2005 Ford 350 they were passengers in struck a 2001 International garbage truck driven by David S. McEntyre, 47, of Troy.  McEntyre was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.  The driver of the Ford, 70-year-old Ervin Toney of Midway, was also transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.  The crash occurred on Alabama 30 at the 4.2 mile marker, one mile east of Clayton. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
