According to several other media outlets, Joe Paterno has passed away. Joe was 85 years old. Joe Paterno was born on December 21, 1926. According to sources he has been battling Lung Cancer since November.

 

Update 10:43: We are now getting word from those media sources that he has not passed away. It has caused a domino effect for all media that reported he had passed away. At this time he has not passed away. Sorry for the confusion.

Update 11:08: Paterno is reported to be in serious condition at this time. Accroding to several sources, his son, Scott, posted on his Twitter account "Dad is alive but in Serious Condition." They also say that Paternos health started to deteriorate earlier Saturday evening.

Update 12:42: Joe Paterno is now reported to have passed away. His family released a statement this morning to announce his death.
