UPDATED at 8:32 PM: Law Enforcement Searching For A Body

DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY:   Dothan Police, Houston County Sheriff Department and other law enforcement agencies are searching for one or more bodies believed to be buried.

The search area is off Highway 84 West on Gillis Court. This is west of The Highlands and just before Bay Springs.

The officers have been on the scene since before 3 PM. They are reported have cadeaver dogs on the scene. Reports are that a backhoe is on the scene.

There are comments that two bodies have been found. At this time, as we understand, no body or bodies have been located. Law Enforcement are working from tips they have received.

Dothan Police are in charge of the investigation.

NOTE:   We have been sitting on this story since before 3 PM at the request of law enforcement. Other media are just now finding out so I cleared with the agencies that it is OK for article to be posted.

 I will confirm that we are following up on a lead that a missing person was buried in a field in the area of the search.  Police have been combing the area since about 4:00pm this afternoon in an attempt to locate any evidence that will support the claim.  As of now, no body has been located.  The search will continue until we are convinced there is nothing there.  We follow up on all leads received in situations such as these.  Please be patient and understand that all details of information we received cannot be released.
