MIDLAND CITY:    Midland City Police and Dale County Sheriff Deputies are on the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Highway 231 and the overpass. The vehicle is slowly slipping down the embankment. The Midland City officer has called for a vehicle with a winch to stabilize the vehicle.

Dothan's Pilcher's Ambulance is providing ambulance care for the southern end of Dale County. Pilcher's Ambulance Service is responding to the scene. The accident victim possibly has a broken leg.

Dothan Fire has been dispatched to mutual aid Midland City and Pilcher's with this wreck.

Rickey is responding for RSN. I am attempting to get into my vehicle, the doors are frozen shut.

Dothan ire Engine 6 ( Napier Field Road ) responded to the accident at the request of Pilcher's Ambulance. The patient, a 50 year old male, was a trauma alert with a possible broken femur. The additional paramedic assistance was needed with the patient.

Flowers Hospital was notified of trauma alert patient being transported to Flower's Hospital from the scene.

The northbound pickup truck apparently hit ice on the bridge and went off the northern side of the bridge.

The ice was so bad on the bridge that officers were literally slipping.

The ambulance was directed to approach from Hinton Water Street where access to the patient could be easier. A winch was connected to the truck to stabilize while removing the patient from the vehicle.

Dale County Sheriff Deputies assisted Midland City. Also Alabama Bureau of Investigation ( ABI ) Lt. Tommy Merritt assisted. Merritt was present as a Trooper and not to conduct an  ABI investigation.

The person involved in the accident was Mike Mixon. He has worked for Pilcher's Ambulance for 30 years and is a ranking officer in the Ozark Fire Department.

In a conversation with Joey Pilcher, he described as "gold". That he is a fine man and a valuable asset for both Ozark Fire and Pilcher's Ambulance.
