Covington county deputy killed this morning responding to crash. Just happened about an hour or so ago. No other information is available at this time but we will update shortly.

Officials are still on the scene of an accident this morning involving a Covington County Sheriff’s Department deputy on Ala. Hwy. 55, just south of Samurai Steakhouse.

Although no official information has been released, initial reports indicated the deputy was responding to an earlier car accident farther south on the highway at the time of the accident.

Officials on the scene declined to comment as the investigation is ongoing.
