BARBOUR - HENRY COUNTY:    A law enforcement chase started in Barbour County. Reports are the chase turned from Highway 431 onto Highway 95.

As the suspect crossed White Oak from Barbour County into Henry County the vehicle crashed. Reports are one person has been killed.

Authorities are on the scene.

Two persons were killed in chase. The two persons killed were in the vehicle that was running from law enforcement. No innocent persons life was claimed.

The person "in front of" the blue lights makes the decision to flee. The person "under the blue lights" does not make that decision.

The accident was on Highway 95 at Calhoun Drive, which is just south of the bridge just inside Henry County.

From Eufaula sources, UNCONFIRMED WITH AUTHORITIES, the ones in the car running and that were killed are reported to have fired a weapon at an off duty Eufaula Police Officer who was with his family.

The two deceased are identified as;

Wesley Logan Davis 25YO black male of Eufaula

Montez Doran Brown 22 YO black male of Abbeville

Both were pronounced dead on the scene.

Agencies investigating are Alabama State Troopers, Henry County Sheriff Department, Henry County Coroner Derek Wright, Barbour County Sheriff Department, Eufaula Police and State Bureau of Investigation.

Eufaula Police, via FACEBOOK, state no off duty police involved in tragic events in Henry County last evening. That is why we stated UNCONFIRMED BY AUTHORITIES because we got that information from people on the scene but had been unable to confirm.

The reason they would not stop for law enforcement is not known.

UPDATED @ 10:38 AM

The updated at 4:45 AM article I made the comment "UNCONFIRMED BY AUTHORITIES" as to the information of shots fired. Since that time Eufaula Police issued statement via FACEBOOK no off duty officers were involved in the tragic events.

The reason I stated "UNCONFIRMED BY AUTHORITIES" was because the calls about the did not come from authorities but from sources in the area. That is the purpose of making sure I said UNCONFIRMED BY AUTHORITIES.

The family has asked me to remove that but if I did people would wonder why I took it down. So I am making sure it is understood Eufaula Police Department issued a statement "no off duty officer was involved". So apparently the information was not correct. Again that is why I said UNCONFIRMED BY AUTHORITIES.

With that said, at this time we have no official statements as to what all did take place prior to the crash by the vehicle and death of the two people in the car.

NOTHING WAS SAID with intentions to hurt anyone.

What we do know; (1) there was a chase that was initiated in Barbour County (2) the chase came into Henry County from Barbour County (3) the vehicle being chased crashed just as it came into Henry County (4) and the two people in the accident lost their life.

WELL, this article has been developing and changing. But finally I think the information I have worked on today has developed into the facts...

(1) It was a "off duty" Barbour County Sheriff Deputy that was in the chase and his family was with him.

(2) The vehicle that wrecked, a gun was fired from the passenger window, according to information of which I have worked on today.

(3) Not sure if fired "at" the deputy or as a "warning" at the Deputy.

(4) As Eufaula Police Facebook indicated the Eufaula Police Department "did not" have a "off duty" officer involved in the chase. The "off duty" officer was a Deputy Sheriff with Barbour County.

(5) Again, it is not the person "under the blue lights" that makes the decision not to stop but rather the person "in front of the blue lights" that makes the decision not to stop.

(6) The only vehicle that wrecked was the vehicle not obeying the blue lights and stopping in peacefulness.

Sorry this article has waffled. But conflicting information to me and the victims family or friends have text me numerous times telling me my information was wrong.

The exact reason of the attempted traffic stop is not known.

We are sorry for the families loss. Not to be mean or rude but the driver apparently made a conscious decision to attempt to flee which cost him and another their life.
