HOUSTON COUNTY:     A Houston County Jury found a Houston County man NOT GUILTY of Attempted Murder.

On December 30, 2013 Dothan Police Investigator Stephens arrested Jay Terrell Curry and booked him into the Dothan City Jail and then transferred to Houston County Jail for Attempted Murder. Curry was placed under a $ 200,000.00 bond.

A $ 200,000.00 bond is a "no bond".

Curry sit in the Houston County Jail from December 30, 2013 until May 1, 2014. On April 29, 2014 the bond of Curry was reduced to $ 60,000.00. After the bond was reduced A - Advantage Bonding made Curry’s bond.

The allegations against Curry as presented by Dothan Police was that Curry stabbed a Bobby Tillman with a 6 inch serrated kitchen knife. The offense of Attempted Murder is a Class A felony carrying a penalty of a minimum of 10 years in prison to life.

Curry was represented by Thomas Smith of Smith and McGhee in front of Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Kevin Moulton. The case went to trial this week before a jury of 12 people.

When the evidence was presented, and Thomas Smith was able to get the true facts before the jury, the 12 people issued a verdict of NOT GUILTY.

Curry pled NOT GUILTY and stood on the Alabama’s STAND YOUR GROUND DEFENSE.

Attorney Thomas Smith of Smith and McGhee did an excellant job in the presentation of facts to the jury.

Curry will never get the some 5 months the State of Alabama robbed from him. That is 5 months of his life because the system failed him. Sometimes I just can not understand how the folks in power can not see the abuse of their power when ignoring the true and correct facts and circumstances.

With power comes awesome responsibility.

UPDATED:

In the original article some dates were wrong. Curry was arrested December 2013 and bonds changed April 2014.

It appears the first bond hearings were in Circuit Court.
