When the call was upgraded to patient trapped, Bay Springs Volunteer Fire, at time of dispatch ( and very wise of them ) mutual aid requested Dothan Fire Department to respond.

At 6:48 AM Dothan Fire was on the scene, along with Pilcher’s, Houston County Sheriff Deputies, Pilchers Ambulance and Bay Springs Fire.

Houston County Sheriff Lt. Ivey has the roads blocked so the emergency crews can render medical aid with safety.

At 7:00 AM, Command advised the patient is removed from entrapment from underneath the vehicle, and being placed on the stretcher. Command advise the patient has confirmed they were alone, no other person in the accident. Emergency units did a preliminary search of the area just to be sure.

At 7:02 AM the patient was on board Pilcher’s Ambulance, with Dothan Firemedics, being transported emergency to Flowers Hospital.

At 7:07 AM the patient was arriving at Floweres Hospital.

At 7:14 AM Alabama State Troopers Charles Starling is investigating the accident.

Please note:  35 minutes from when the call was received in the communications centers, a patient that was trapped underneath the wrecked vehicle, was removed, being treated and arriving at Flowers Hospital for trauma doctors.

Again, 35 minutes from when the call was received, Murphy Mill Road and North Brannon Stand Road...the nearest fire stations is near the Highlands on 84 and Bay Springs is further, Pilcher's on South Foster Street...hats off people!!!! Communications Centers, fire, ambulance and law enforcement...Dothan Fire Batallion Chief Mike Helms in charge of the scene.

Casey Taylor is on the scene for RSN and will update article with scene pictures. NOTE: Scene pictures will not be posted until we give ample time for family to be notified. RSN would hate for someone to recognize the car before being officially notified of the accident.

At 7:45 AM, Dothan Fire Engine Number 8, the primary engine that responded to this accident is back in service, with all personnel on the truck, and ready to roll to help someone else. Paramedics, also called firemedics, on this fire engine rode in the ambulance with the patient to the hospital. The fireman have retrieved him from the hospital, restocked thier fire engine from supplies used in this accident, regrouped and ready to roll again.

At 8:11 AM, the VOLUNTEERS who work for Bay Springs Volunteer Fire, have been released from the accident scene and are returning to the fire station. Their department was primary fire unit responsible and had to remain until scene cleaned up. Your community volunteers at work, for free, since 6:32 AM.
