Sheriff Michael A. Adkinson, Jr. announces the arrest of two individuals in connection to the murder of a local resident.  Chrispen Ramirez, 22, and Haley Nicole Bowden, 16, both of Mossy Head, were arrested on January 24 after fleeing from deputies.  Bowden was reported as a runaway juvenile by her family and law enforcement had been actively searching for her when they received information of Bowden and Ramirez staying at a residence on Eagles Way in Mossy Head.  Upon the arrival of law enforcement, Bowden and Ramirez fled the scene on foot.  K-9 units were deployed and tracked down Bowden and Ramirez.  Ramirez was armed with knives at the scene and threatened the lives of the deputies.  Authorities subdued Ramirez and both were transported to the Walton County Department of Corrections.

In the meantime, other deputies were dispatched to Beaver Dam Road in reference to a trespass complaint.  The complainant told authorities someone had come onto private property and abandoned a vehicle.  It was found partially submerged in water, with the tag missing.  Law enforcement was able to identify the owner of the vehicle from the Vehicle Identification Number.  Attempts were made to contact the owner of the vehicle, Arthur Gerald Anderson, 77, of Mossy Head.  Family members of Anderson told deputies they had not seen him in a few days.  A short time later, deputies located the body of Anderson, not far from where the vehicle was located.

Further investigation revealed Bowden and Ramirez murdered Anderson after he confronted them for entering a residence on West Juniper Avenue he was a caretaker of. The couple then attempted to burn the residence, stole Anderson’s vehicle, and dumped it later.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.  Ramirez was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, interference with child custody, arson, and an open count of murder.  Bowden was charged with resisting an officer without violence, arson, and an open count of murder.
