Late Wednesday night two young boys were frog gigging near Haleburg, Alabama. The boys, Hunter VanScyoc and Will Kirkland, both 16 years old, were on their way home and saw a snake.  They decided to stop and shoot the snake.  Hunter and Will were on a ATV and stopped on the side of County Road 53 about 100 yards from Will’s home.

A vehicle traveling on County Road 53 ran off the road and hit them.   Henry County Sheriff  Will Maddox said that late Wednesday night , 37 year old Latabius Andrea Brown of Columbia was arrested and charged with felony first-degree assault and misdemeanor third-degree assault.

Brown was driving the 2004 Chrysler Sebring that struck 16 year old Hunter VanScyoc  and Will Kirkland.  Kirkland was treated and dismissed from SAMC.  Hunter remained in critical condition Thursday afternoon and was transferred to Sacred Heart in Pensacola.

According to Facebook posts by Thomas Parish, family friend of both boys, the driver was allegedly drunk,  allegedly blowing 1.7.  Hunter and Will were down in a ditch and the car ran off the road and hit Hunter directly.

Hunter lives in Headland and he is the son of Stacey Walker VanScyoc and Chad VanScyoc.  His brother is Cole VanScyoc.  Hunter and his family are members of First Baptist Headland.  We have had the privilege to watch them grow up in our church.    Hunter has a lot of prayers being lifted for him from our community and all of Henry and Houston County.

The latest post by family friend Thomas Parish was a update on the injuries Hunter has:  two skull fractures, swelling on his brain, his ankle is broken, brain contusion, bleeding/bruising in his lungs, widespread bruising and knots, multiple stitches and staples and a low grade fever.  Hunter has a lot of things to overcome.

RSN is asking that our followers please lift Hunter and the medical team that is treating him up in prayer.  Pray for healing of Hunter.  Please pray for comfort for Will.  Also pray Stacey, Chad, Cole, the Kirklands, Grandparents, Great-grandparents and other family members that God will give them the strength and comfort that they need.  Let them feel the arms of God around each of them as they encourage Hunter each step of the healing process.  Please ask your friends and family to pray for Hunter.  We serve a awesome God who is the Great Physician and we know he can heal Hunter.

Thank you for supporting families in crisis with your prayers.
