Veterans not Being Honored on Weekends

Since due to a reduced budget, the Army will no longer supply an Honor Guard at Veterans funerals which are conducted on weekends unless a request is submitted prior to 2:00 p.m. on the Fridaypreceding the weekend, there should be a back up plan in place that would cover the situation if a Veteran were to pass away after 2:00 p.m. on Friday and was scheduled to be laid to rest during the weekend.

The Patriot Guard Riders are fully capable of covering this situation and conducting the folding and awarding of the flag when there is no Honor Guard present, but the PGR has no means to play "Taps" at the funeral and the playing of "Taps' is an important part of the ceremony.

I'm trying to locate a ceremonial bugle... If anyone can help we would appreciate it, and the Veteran would receive all the honors they deserve.

Thanks, Jimmy Shiver
