MONTGOMERY, Alabama – Lawyers for VictoryLand and the Alabama attorney general sparred before a state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board panel today over whether the casino's electronic machines are legal or illegal under state law.
The legality of the machines took center stage at a day-long hearing to determine if VictoryLand should get a liquor license for its newly reopened casino floor. The panel is expected to make a decision within 15 days.
Deputy Attorney General Sonny Reagan said that VictoryLand shouldn't be granted a permit because the business is continuing a pattern of breaking state laws prohibiting illegal gambling.
