HOUSTON COUNTY:     Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes called a press conference this morning to announce an arrest.

On November 6, 2009 investigators with Houston County Sheriff’s Office arrested Curtis Otha Grant of Dothan. Grant was charged with one count of Rape 2^nd degree, five counts of Sodomy second degree, and five counts of Enticing a Child for Immoral Purposes.

Sheriff Hughes said the offenses took place between the dates of August 15^th and September 23^rd. The offenses involved unlawful sexual contact with a 15 year old female in Houston County.

Grant is currently in the Houston County jail under $ 65,000.00 bond.

Grant is pastor of Open Door Baptist Church in Dothan and also served as a volunteer chaplain with Houston County Sheriff’s Office and previously served as a chaplain with Dothan Police Department.

NOTE:

Houston County Jail has a chaplain that works full time at the Houston County Jail.  THE PERSON ARRESTED IS NOT THE CHAPLAIN WHO WORKS AT THE JAIL.

Curtis Grant worked in the field and made death notifications and injury notifications.

The arrest has nothing to do with the performance of any of his duties with law enforcement. Grants contact with victim had nothing to do with any chaplain law enforcement duties.

AGAIN…so we are straight because some media has misreported it…The Department has two chaplains. The jail chaplain WAS NOT ARRESTED!!!! Do not get that confused.
