A 2011 Ford Escape was Eastbound in the Outside Lane on Interstate Highway 10. The Escape traveled in a Northeasterly direction crossing the Inside Lane and into the Median. The Ford continued Northeasterly crossing the Westbound Lanes of Interstate Highway 10 and entering the North Shoulder. The Front of the Escape collided with a Tree. The vehicle rotated in a counter clockwise direction and traveled in an Easterly direction. The Right Side of the vehicle then collided with another Tree coming to final rest facing Northwest. The driver, Troy Lane Blackburn, 46, of Mary Esther, Florida, had to be extricated and Airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. A witness, traveling Westbound, stated he saw the Escape cross the Median and Westbound Lanes and collide with a tree. A second witness, Eastbound behind the Escape, stated she saw the Escape speeding ahead of her in the Outside Lane and suddenly turn right crossing the Median and Westbound Lanes and colliding with a tree. Fire Fighters on scene stated Blackburn told them he had a coughing spell causing him to faint. |
