On Tuesday, a deputy with Washington County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle which has received numerous complaints in reference to reckless driving at highway 90 and Glass Road for a traffic infraction.
During questioning, the deputy observed what appeared to be illegal substances in the vehicle as well as the driver displaying signs of being under the influence. A search of the vehicle revealed several packs of synthetic marijuana.
There was a small child in the vehicle at the time of the arrest. Department of Children and Families were contacted and took the child into their care.
“Despite the fact we have flooded the public with warnings on the dangers of synthetic drugs, there are still those who choose to consume these illegal products at alarming rates under the misconception they are safer than the alternative” states Sheriff Haddock. “The fact is, these products are known to cause severe adverse reactions, including death and acute renal failure, increased heart rate, paranoid behavior, agitation and irritability, nausea and vomiting, confusion, drowsiness, headache, hypertension, electrolyte abnormalities, seizures and loss of consciousness.”
Arrested was:
Doyle Eric Bond, 42 year old white male of Dothan, AL
· Felony Possession of Controlled Substance (Synthetic Marijuana)
· Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
· Child Neglect
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office asks that anyone with information on illegal drug activity contact us at 638-TIPS (8477) or by email at tips@wcso.us.
