Washington County Sheriff’s Office Arrest of two Suspects for Burglaries

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two suspects for several burglaries that occurred at 17 locations in the Chipley area.

 

On Monday, July 9^th, Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to possible car burglaries that had occurred along highway 90 west of Chipley. Subsequent to the initial 3 vehicles reported, additional calls were received in reference to numerous car burglaries and the attempted burglary of a local convenience store in both the city of Chipley, as well as in the area of highway 90 west of Chipley.

 

Investigators, while exploring leads in the case, were alerted to two suspicious males that deputies had identified in the early morning hours of Monday, July 9^th walking in the area of the later reported burglaries.

 

Investigators located the suspects and after questioning, confessed to the burglary of 16 vehicles and attempted burglary of a convenience store.

 

Arrested was:

Zackery “Zack” Jay Marsh, 16 year old white male of Chipley, FL

· Armed Burglary (3 Counts)

· Felony Criminal Mischief

· Burglary (13 Counts)

 

Tommy Lee Marsh, 18 year old white of Chipley, FL

· Armed Burglary (3 Counts)

· Felony Criminal Mischief

 

 

Investigators, working in conjunction with Chipley Police Department, have recovered the majority of the stolen property and are currently working to locate the remainder.

 

“If the deputy had not taken the initiative to identify these young men prior to the knowledge of any crimes taking place, we could very well still be at square one with these cases” state Sheriff Haddock. “Instead, we are fortunate to have those responsible for a rash of burglaries in custody within hours of the crimes taking place.”
